Index Searching

Use the appropriate form to

find articles by a particular author;
find articles by searching their titles;
get information about excursions and outings.

To include abstracts of found articles, check the Include abstracts? box. Only articles in the more recent volumes have abstracts. There are relatively few in the earlier ones.

Note that the search covers only the title, author and excursion indexes, and not the contents of articles. The contents of online volumes can be done using the search capability provided by Acrobat Reader.

The TDGNHAS Index Database

The index database used covers the years 1862-2008 and was compiled by the late James Williams. See TDGNHAS III, LXXVI, 1 (2002).

On handing over the maintenance of the website to me, he expressed a hope that searching of the index could be done online and I am pleased to have been able to implement this.

Examples of search strings

Author search

Entering 'wil' will return articles by Wilson, Williams etc.
Entering 'wilson' will return articles by A. Wilson, D.A. Wilson, G. Wilson etc.
Entering 'wilson, j.b.' will return just those articles by J.B. Wilson.

Title search

Entering 'kirk' will return articles with Kirkton, Kirkmahoe, Kirkcudbright etc in the title. Entering 'kirkcu' will limit these to those having just Kirkcudbright and Kirkcudbrightshire in the title.

Excursion search

Using the same sort of strings as in a title search will bring up the corresponding destinations in a similar way.
