Working life spent behind a cow’s tail.
Born Sunderland County Durham, raised in the Yorkshire dales.
Studied Agriculture Leeds University 1966-70.
Worked on dairy farms, came to Kirkandrews on Esk in 1979 to run a dairy unit.
Became interested in genealogy in 1987, which lead on to local history.
Helped to transcribe gravestones in North Cumbria Churchyards.
Member of Cumbria Family History Society Council.
Committee member of Carlisle History Group which has 20 lectures a year.
Parish Councillor Kirkandrews on Esk, chairman for a number of years.
Interested in wildlife especially birds, member of North Cumbria RSPB committee.
