Following the launch of the Society’s inaugural Young Researcher Competition, a winner has been chosen. She is Sophia Earle, a 16-year-old student from St Joseph’s College, Dumfries and her winning entry is Dumfries’ Dark Past: Dissection of a Death Mask.

A presentation ceremony will be held at St Joseph’s College on Tuesday, 20 February, when Sophia will be presented with her certificate and a cheque for £250.
The death mask of Robert Smith is on display at the Dumfries Museum. It is also available to see on-line here.
